Bri has spent the last 8 years serving vulnerable communities and currently works in leadership as an advocate, mentor, and resource coordinator at a non-profit mental health organization. When she’s not building connections with colleagues, service participants, or her community, you’ll find her bouldering (or thinking about bouldering), lost in a good book, or in the kitchen cooking and baking as a way to ground herself and share love with those she cares about.
Kaylee is on a bit of a redemption arc, after over a decade of terminal disassembly of defenseless technology, her parents sent her away to college so they could have nice things again. There, she learned the errors of her ways, both in methods and results. In penance, she has spent the last 15 years working in high reliability electronics design and test, making sure that the next generation of electronics stand a better chance against the next generation of Kaylees.
Now, she is excited to bring that experience to the mushroom farm, where growing conditions are only slightly less trying than dens of human children. Her hope is that this endeavor will put her overly well-equipped home lab to good use making sustainable and delicious food, and the tools for others to do the same!
Derick is a software engineer turned mushroom farmer who brings 15 years of tech expertise to sustainable agriculture. His background spans computer vision and quantum computing research at a national lab, plus developing farm management software that serves over 200,000 farmers worldwide. Now at Demeter, he's applying that technical foundation to make mushroom farming more accessible, splitting his time between backend development and hands-on cultivation at scale. When he's not debugging code or nurturing mushroom cultures, you'll find him experimenting in the kitchen, tinkering in the lab, or going on culinary adventures.
Sharon is an engineer turned full-time mushroom grower and explorer. With 15 years in software engineering — including several years leading a SW team in defense tech — she chose a new mission aligned with her values: building reliable systems that help small farms thrive. At Demeter, she applies her expertise to create affordable IoT systems and tracking apps. When she’s not in the mushie lab or furiously coding, you can find her climbing, adoring random dogs on the street, or flailing about on the pickleball courts.
Guinevere is a lover of people and the outdoors, and brings her experiences as a trail crew leader and social worker to Demeter. She is excited to use her technical skills to keep the mushrooms happy, and her people skills to find them loving homes after they are fully grown.
